“In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die: Ever drifting down the stream- Lingering in the golden gleam- Life, what is it but a dream?”
Lewis Carroll
I work very intuitively, passionate about art and creative expression in all forms, be it with a paint brush or camera shutter. The whole world around me, above and below, is symbolic. Every flower I see, every animal that crosses my path, every tree, every pattern, every recurring shape and number, every single colour speaks and guides.
Nature has always been my greatest inspiration, I could sit with a tree for hours simply in awe, just thinking how I could creatively capture the moment. The light is an important element to me, there is something going on outside of our usual spectrum of sight that can be captured through a lens and then magically be brought back to life, time after time after time! We really do live in Wonderland.
A few years ago my eleven year old niece came to stay with us for four weeks, Throughout this time I gave her a project, to make a photo journal, not something on a mobile phone, but a printed physical thing. It took a bit of pushing to get her to do it, but I know she still flicks through that journal and it takes her right back in time to some really special memories. That’s the power of the printed image.
“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still"
